D.B.C. Solutions
Dan Bennett – Founder & Owner

Dan Bennett’s journey from a passionate young carpenter to the founder of a thriving remodeling company is a story demonstrating craftsmanship, perseverance, and evolution. Inspired by his grandfathers’ love for woodworking, Dan’s path into the construction industry began early. After completing the carpentry program at H.H. Ellis Technical High School in Killingly, CT, he spent over 15 years gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of residential construction. In 2004, he took the leap and launched his own venture, Dan Bennett Carpentry. By 2018, the company evolved into D.B.C. Solutions, offering a full spectrum of remodeling and design/build services across northeast CT, northwest RI, and central MA.

D.B.C. Solutions now specializes in home additions, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, custom carpentry, decks, and more. Beyond technical skills, what truly sets Dan apart is his commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. “Our mission is to bring the right team members, trade partners, and materials together, to deliver quality results and ensure satisfied customers every time,” Dan says.

Dan’s shift from craftsman to business owner wasn’t without its growing pains. “I came into business as a carpenter first,” he recalls. “I thought I was charging enough, but I wasn’t covering my expenses. I had nice tools and a truck, but at the end of the year, there was nothing left over.” That realization, coupled with the advice to “get a coach and make sure you charge enough,” became a turning point. Today, Dan emphasizes sustainable business practices, proper budgeting, and client pre-qualification.

One of Dan’s most effective business strategies is consistency in marketing. He relies primarily on referrals and word of mouth, supplemented by radio ads and a regular social media presence, managed professionally. “We post twice a day, every day on Instagram and Facebook,” he says. Field teams upload daily logs and project photos, which keeps content fresh and engaging.

Over the years, Dan transitioned from hands-on work to managing operations, now working mostly with trade partners. To streamline client interactions, he implemented a Zoom-based pre-sales process, allowing potential customers to send videos or images before consultations. “We talk timeline and budget upfront to make sure we’re on the same page,” he explains. This efficiency not only saves time but ensures better alignment with serious clients.

Dan’s involvement in local associations like the Thompson Business Association (TBA) and Economic Development Commission (EDC) has also been instrumental. Networking through organizations such as Business Network International (BNI) helped him relaunch his business after a brief hiatus and sharpen his strategic outlook.

Despite challenges like fluctuating material costs and client budget expectations, D.B.C. Solutions continues to thrive. Dan’s story is a testament to staying true to one’s roots while adapting to the demands of running a modern business. “I love seeing the transformation in remodeling projects,” Dan says. “It’s not just about building. It’s about transforming the space you live in, to a place you’ll love to be in.”
